Who we are

Brummell ("Brummell," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps you find outfit combinations from clothes you already own. Brummell is operated by CurroCasas, LLC, based in Connecticut.

Scope of this policy

This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Brummell mobile application, the brummell.tech website, and related services (the "Service").

This policy applies to users in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, you should not use the Service at this time.

What we collect

We collect only the information needed to make Brummell work.

Information you provide

• Account information. Your email address. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Apple or Google, in which case we receive the name and email address they share with us. We do not store passwords.
• Style preferences. Your answers to the onboarding style cards, your ratings of outfit suggestions, and preferences you set, such as occasions, colors, brands, and budget.
• Wardrobe photos and items. Photos you take with the camera, choose from your photo library, or share to Brummell from other apps. Also product links you paste, purchase receipts you forward to your personal import address, and any details you add or correct.
• Wear log and plans. What you wore and when, and the outfits you plan ahead.
• Outfit Check photos. If you use Outfit Check, photos of you wearing an outfit. We analyze the clothing only, never the person.
• Virtual Try-On photos. If you use Virtual Try-On, full-length photos of yourself, which are sent to our rendering provider to create your try-on images. The app checks each photo on your device first, including finding where your face is. If you turn off "Include my face," the app uses that to crop the photo just below the chin before it leaves your device, so your face is not uploaded. We do not create face templates or face geometry, and we never use your photos to identify you.
• Messages and feedback. Messages you send in style chat, feedback you send us (including an optional screenshot), and your answers to in-app polls.
• Purchases. Your subscription and purchase status, provided by Apple through RevenueCat. We never receive your payment card details.

Information collected automatically

• Usage events. Which screens you view, which suggestions you rate, and which features you use, linked to your account ID. This is collected via PostHog, our analytics provider. We do not record your screen.
• Device information. Device model, operating system version, app version, and a device identifier.
• Crash and error data. Stack traces and device state when the app crashes or hits an error, linked to your account ID, via Sentry.
• Approximate location. If you allow location access, the app sends your location to our servers to fetch local weather. We round it to about 1 km before passing it to OpenWeatherMap and never store your precise location. We keep a city-level version (accurate to about 11 km) on your account so we can include your local forecast in emails, such as the weekly outfit ideas email. It is replaced each time you use weather features and deleted 30 days after it was last updated. Turning off location access stops updates.
• Notification token. If you allow notifications, a push token so we can send outfit reminders.

Processed on your device only

• Smart photo picker. If you give Brummell access to your full photo library, the app scans your library on your device to find likely clothing and outfit photos (using on-device image classification, which includes detecting whether a photo contains a person or a face). The results stay on your device. No photo is uploaded until you choose to add it. You can limit or remove photo access at any time in your device settings.
• Shared photos. Photos you share to Brummell from other apps are held on your device until you open the app and choose what to add.

Our website

• When you visit brummell.tech, we use PostHog, which stores cookies and similar browser storage, to count page views and measure how the site is used.
• If you join the waitlist or contact us through the website, we receive your email address and any message you write.
• If you unsubscribe from our emails through the website, we record that choice.

How we use your information

• To generate outfit suggestions and personalize your experience.
• To provide features you use, such as Outfit Check, Virtual Try-On, Beautify, style chat, product search, and weather-aware suggestions.
• To improve the suggestion algorithm based on your feedback.
• To process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
• To send emails and notifications about your account, your wardrobe, and material changes to the Service. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails with the link in each email, and turn notifications off in the app or your device settings.
• To diagnose bugs and improve performance.
• To keep the Service safe and to detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We do not use your photos or wardrobe data to train AI models, and we do not sell or license them to anyone for that purpose.

How we share your information

We share information with the service providers below, only as needed to run Brummell. They process it on our behalf, under their own terms and privacy commitments.

We will update this list as our service providers change. Material changes will be notified in-app.

Other sharing

• Retailers. Brummell may link to products sold by other retailers. If you open one of those links, the retailer handles your visit under its own privacy policy, and may know you came from Brummell. On some purchases we may earn a small commission.
• Other users. Your wardrobe, photos, and activity are private to your account. Poll results are shown to other users only as combined totals. If you share an outfit using your device's share sheet, you choose who receives it.
• Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Brummell, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. If Brummell is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not run advertising in the Service at this time.

How long we keep your information

• Account and wardrobe data: retained while your account is active. Items you remove from your wardrobe may be kept in your account history until you delete your account.
• Photos you upload, including Try-On photos: retained while your account is active, or until you delete them.
• When you delete your account: your account data and photos are deleted. Any remaining copies, such as in backups, are removed within 30 days.
• City-level location: deleted 30 days after it was last updated, or when you delete your account.
• Analytics events: retained for 12 months in PostHog.
• Crash logs: retained for 90 days in Sentry.

Your rights and choices

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct information you believe is inaccurate, and delete your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile). For anything else, email support@brummell.tech. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.

You can also withdraw photo library, camera, location, and notification access at any time in your device settings, and unsubscribe from emails using the link in each email.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Connecticut Privacy Rights

As an entity domiciled in Connecticut, we respect consumer rights aligned with the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA). Residents of Connecticut have the right to confirm whether we are processing their personal data, access such data, correct inaccuracies, obtain a copy, and delete personal data provided by or obtained about them. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing support@brummell.tech with the subject "Privacy appeal."

Children

Brummell is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

For users between 13 and 18, parental consent may be required depending on your state. By using the Service you confirm you meet the minimum age requirement of your jurisdiction.

Virtual Try-On is intended only for users aged 18 or older, and our Terms of Service require it.

Security

We protect your information using:

• Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) for all data between the app and our servers.
• Encryption at rest for the database and stored photos.
• Row-level security in Supabase: users can only access their own data.
• Private storage for your personal photos, reachable only through short-lived links.
• Limited, access-controlled staff access.
• Regular dependency and security updates.

No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach that affects your data, we will notify you and any regulators required by applicable US state breach notification laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will notify you by email and update the Effective Date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
